Privacy Policy for Ashmore Word Games
Last updated: June 7, 2026
Ashmore Interactive (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the mobile application Ashmore Word Games (the “App”), a daily SAT-vocabulary puzzle game. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
We built the App to need as little of your information as possible. There is no account or sign-in, and we never ask you for your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
1. Information we do NOT collect
To be clear up front, the App does not:
- ask you to create an account or log in;
- collect your name, email, phone number, or postal address;
- collect your precise (GPS) location;
- access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera;
- show advertisements;
- sell or rent your information to anyone.
2. Information stored only on your device
Your gameplay stays on your phone and is not transmitted to us:
- puzzle progress, streaks, stars, and word “mastery”;
- your settings (sound, haptics, dark mode, and whether the daily reminder is on).
This is kept in the App's local storage on your device. If you uninstall the App, this information is deleted with it.
3. Information collected automatically (analytics and crash reports)
To understand how the game is used so we can improve it, and to find and fix crashes, the App uses two Google services: Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics. Through these services, the App automatically collects limited, non-identifying technical information:
- App-usage events — for example, that a puzzle was started or finished, a tutorial step was reached, or a settings toggle was changed.
- Device and app information — app version, device model, operating-system version, and device language.
- Approximate, coarse location — a general region (such as country), derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise location.
- A randomly generated app-instance identifier — used by analytics to count unique installs. It is not your name and is not the Advertising ID.
- Crash diagnostics — if the App crashes: a technical report describing the error and the device state at the time, so we can fix it.
Our analytics provider (Google Analytics for Firebase) may use your device's Advertising ID for analytics purposes. The app shows no ads, and we do not use this identifier for advertising, ad targeting, or ad personalization.
4. How we use this information
- To see which features are used and where players get stuck, so we can improve the game.
- To diagnose and fix crashes, bugs, and performance problems.
We do not use this information to advertise to you, and we do not sell it. If you are in a region with a legal-basis requirement (such as the EEA/UK under the GDPR), we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the App, handled in a privacy-protective way.
5. How information is shared
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. The limited analytics and crash data described above are processed on our behalf by Google (Firebase / Google Analytics and Crashlytics) acting as our service provider. Their handling of that data is governed by Google's privacy policy and terms. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
Because these services are operated by Google, information may be processed on servers located in the United States or other countries. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards.
6. Data retention
Analytics and crash data are retained by Google's services for a limited period in line with their default retention settings and then deleted or aggregated. Information stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App.
7. Your choices and rights
- On-device data: you can clear your progress in the App's Settings (“Reset All Progress”), or remove everything by uninstalling the App.
- Analytics: you can limit analytics collection through your device's privacy settings (for example, “Opt out of Ads Personalization” / resetting the Advertising ID on Android).
- Notifications: the daily reminder is off unless you turn it on, and can be turned off anytime in the App's Settings or your device settings.
- Privacy rights (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA): depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing.” We do not sell or share personal information. Because the App has no account, we hold no information that identifies you personally; to make a request or ask a question, contact us below.
8. Children's privacy
The App is intended for high-school-age students and adults preparing for the SAT, and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the App, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it. (In the Google Play listing, the App's target audience is set to teens and adults.)
9. Security
We rely on the App's minimal data footprint and on Google's security practices for the analytics and crash services. Data transmitted by those services is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but collecting very little information is our primary safeguard.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected in an updated App release.
